So, here we are sitting at 6-6 after once being 6-2. Our playoff hopes have gotten slimmer over the 4 game slide but not impossible! If we want to make it to the post season and hope for the ultimate goal to continue to be possible a lot needs to change. Defense needs to do a 180, kicker needs be reliable like everybody knows he can be, and the offense needs to finish drives in the end zone and not leave points on the board. Even with the all the negatives we’ve had there is still some huge positives. Cam just had his worst game of his career but he’s having his best season statistically, DJ Moore keeps showing why he was the first WR off the board, and one of the biggest positives has been our man, Run CMC!
Christian McCaffrey has been nothing short of amazing as a 3 down RB. He’s on the field more than any offensive NFL player at the skilled positions besides Deandre Hopkins. The offense now runs through CMC and nobody has been able to stop him. Since week 6, he’s got the most receptions in the entire NFL and he’s on pace to break Matt Fortes all time record of receptions in a season. As of right now he’s got the exact same amount of receptions as he did last year with 12 more receiving yards than last year. His rushing has been miles better than last year. Towards the end of the year last year he was coming into his own and it has done nothing but keep taking off towards his peak. He’s shown why he was worth the 8th overall pick last year.
One thing that has shown what he’s capable of and that’s that he has a very good chance of becoming the 3rd RB to get 1,000 rush yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. Only Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk have reached that. David Johnson came very close to reaching it a couple years ago but an injury in the last game stopped him from reaching that feat. CMC has 663 receiving yards and 863 rushing yards as of now. CMC needs 35 rushing yards per game and 85 receiving yards per game away. With games against the Browns, Falcons, and Saints twice he’s got a good chance. Games against the Falcons and Saints should be shootouts and favor him getting those receiving yards.
It’ll be interesting to see what the rest of the season holds for CMC and the Panthers but one thing is for sure and that’s that McCaffrey is arguably the best all around RB in the league and a future all pro RB.
KEEP POUNDING!
