We're 24 days away from the regular season opener at Bank of America Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys and we are already seeing changes to the Carolina lineup as injuries have started stacking up and training camp has come to a close.
Carolina's recent injuries:
- Ben Jacobs (LB)
- Jared Norris (LB)
- Corn Elder (CB)
- LaDarius Gunter (CB)
- Tyler Larsen (C)
- Chris Manhertz (TE)
- Amini Silatolu (T)
- Daryl Williams (T)
- Fozzy Whittaker (RB)- placed on injured reserve
- Damian Parms (S)- placed on injured reserve
- Ross Cockrell (CB)- placed on injured reserve
Already two weeks into August there have been a few sighs of relief as some players, such as Julius "The Reaper" Peppers and Curtis Samuel, have passed their physicals and have been added back to the active roster. However, Carolina is starting to see injuries adding up on both offense and defense prior to week 1. Although it is not uncommon for injuries in this game, the Panthers have added a bunch of new faces while some hard hitting veterans like Charles Johnson, Kurt Coleman, and Jonathan Stewart have departed, it is a bit nerve-racking before the regular season opener.
As the Panthers prepare for the September 1st deadline to reduce it's 90-man roster to a maximum of 53 players, Carolina is in crunch time to find its stars for the 2018 season.
Within the past week, Carolina waived Ashaad Mabry (DT) and Karter Schult (DE), while signing defensive end free agents Sterling Bailey and Kiante Anderson, as well as, defensive back Alex Carter.
What are your thoughts? What players should the Panthers keep for the 2018 season?
